A decorative early 20th century tribal long stool or headrest in the anthropomorphic form of a stylised crocodile emerging from the water. The stool, with four integral legs, is carved from a solid piece of dense wood with a rich patina and has been especially selected for its contrasting markings.   Origin: Lobi tribe, Burkina Faso.
