An exceptional 19th century writing box in green leather decorated with a tooled and gilded Greek key motif. The box is complete with original gilt brass handle and escutcheon engraved with floral motifs and opens to reveal a beautifully fitted interior including a notepad, pen tray and inkwell. The interior of the lid is fitted for stationery. The box opens further to provide a writing surface lined with green moiré silk under which are two mahogany lined compartments for writing paper. Every element of the box by Miller, Park St. Viaduct, Bristol is of the highest quality and remains in excellent condition. Circa 1840-60.
