19th century string box

Dimensions:

A 19th century string box in ball form turned from lignum vitae wood of lovely colour and figure.  The box is  raised on the original three brass ball feet and  unscrews at the centre for the insertion of the ball of string or wool which is fed out through the brass aperture at the top.  A fine quality piece still practical for use as originally intended.  Circa 1860.
